'Ulüm al-Qur'an, or Qur'anic sciences, is a discipline which deals with those aspects of the Qur'an which are not usually discussed in exegeses (tafsir) of the Qur'an. In this discipline, unlike tafsir, the contents of the verses are not discussed, rather general information about the Qur'an and different groups of verses are provided and analysed.
