one’s teeth brushed
عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الأشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ رَكْعَتَانِ بِالسِّوَاكِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ رَكْعَةً بِغَيْرِ سِوَاكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) لَوْ لاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ.
Two units of prayer (rak‘at) with the use of a miswak (tooth-stick) are better than seventy units without it."
He said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"If it were not to cause hardship for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the miswak before every prayer.

Tradition of prophet
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ مِنْ سُنَنِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ السِّوَاكُ.
Imam Jafar(as) says:
Brushing one's teeth is among the traditions of the messengers (of Allah).

tooth cleaning benefits
قَالَ اَلصَّادِقُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: « فِي اَلسِّوَاكِ اِثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ خَصْلَةً هُوَ مِنَ اَلسُّنَّةِ وَ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ وَ مَجْلاَةٌ لِلْبَصَرِ وَ يُرْضِي اَلرَّحْمَنَ وَ يُبَيِّضُ اَلْأَسْنَانَ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْحَفْرِ وَ يَشُدُّ اَللِّثَةَ وَ يُشَهِّي اَلطَّعَامَ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْبَلْغَمِ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي اَلْحِفْظِ وَ يُضَاعِفُ اَلْحَسَنَاتِ وَ تَفْرَحُ بِهِ اَلْمَلاَئِكَةُ.
Imam al-sadeq(as) says:
"In the use of the siwak (tooth-stick) there are twelve benefits: it is a Sunnah, it purifies the mouth, brightens the eyesight, pleases the Most Merciful (Allah), whitens the teeth, removes tooth decay, strengthens the gums, increases appetite, eliminates phlegm, enhances memory, multiplies good deeds, and the angels rejoice in it."

Benefit of Tooth Cleaning
وَقَالَ اَلنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ: «لَوْ لاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ وُضُوءِ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"If it were not burdensome for my community, I would have commanded them to use siwak (tooth cleaning) with each wudu (ablution) before every prayer."

Means of Purification of mouth
وَقَالَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: «لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ طَهُورٌ وَ طَهُورُ اَلْفَمِ اَلسِّوَاكُ
Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (a.s) said:
"Everything has a means of purification, and the means of purification for the mouth is the siwak (tooth cleaning)."

وَقَالَ أَمِيرُ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: «إِنَّ أَفْوَاهَكُمْ طُرُقُ اَلْقُرْآنِ فَطَهِّرُوهَا بِالسِّوَاكِ.
The Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s) said: "Your mouths are the pathways of the Quran, so purify them with siwak (toothstick)."

Practice of prophet(pbuh)
وَقَالَ اَلصَّادِقُ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ: «أَرْبَعٌ مِنْ سُنَنِ اَلْمُرْسَلِينَ اَلتَّعَطُّرُ وَ اَلسِّوَاكُ وَ اَلنِّسَاءُ وَ اَلْحِنَّاءُ.
Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (a.s) said:
"Four practices are from the traditions of the messengers: applying fragrance, using siwak (toothstick), having relations with women, and using henna."
