وبإسناده عن الفضل بن شاذان في (حديث العلل) عن الرضا عليه السلم قال: إنما جعل يوم الفطر العيد ليكون للمسلمين مجتمعا يجتمعون فيه ويبرزون لله عز وجل فيمجدونه على ما من عليهم، فيكون يوم عيد ويوم اجتماع ويوم فطر ويوم زكاة ويوم رغبة، ويوم تضرع، ولأنه أول يوم من السنة يحل فيه الأكل والشرب، لأن أول شهور السنة عند أهل الحق شهر رمضان، فأحب الله عز وجل أن يكون لهم في ذلك مجمع يحمدونه فيه ويقدسونه.
Imam Ali ibn Musa Al-Ridha(as) says: The day of Eid al-Fitr was made a festival so that it would be a gathering for Muslims where they come together and emerge for Allah the Mighty and Majestic, glorifying Him for what He has bestowed upon them. So it becomes a day of eid (* return back to Allah), a day of gathering, a day of breaking fast, a day of giving zakat, a day of desire, and a day of supplication. It is also because it is the first day of the year in which eating and drinking become permissible, as the first month of the year according to the people of truth is Ramadan. So Allah the Mighty and Majestic loved for them to have a gathering on that day in which they praise and sanctify Him.

عن جميل ابن صالح، عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: إذا كان صبيحة الفطر نادى مناد: اغدوا إلى جوائزكم.
Imam Jafar(as) says: On the morning of Eid al-Fitr, a caller calls out: Go forth to receive your rewards.
