My father, my brother, ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain, and others all narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Abī Khalaf, from Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā Al-Ash’ari, from ‘Ali ibn Ḥakam, from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s)) said: When you want to go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s), go to his Ziyārah while you are saddened, anguished, grief-stricken, disheveled, covered with dust, hungry, and thirsty, for verily Ḥusain (a.s) was killed while he was saddened, anguished, disheveled, covered with dust, hungry, and thirsty. (After you perform your Ziyārah), ask him for your needs and then leave. Do not settle in Karbalā.

Imām Abū ʿAbdillāh Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq (ʿalayhis-salām) said: "If any of you is in distress and seeks deliverance from Allāh, let him perform two rakʿahs of ṣalāh, then prostrate and say: ‘O Muḥammad! O Messenger of Allāh! O ʿAlī! O Master of the believing men and believing women! Through you both, I seek deliverance from Allāh, the Most High. O Muḥammad! O ʿAlī! I seek help through you both. O Helper! (Ghuthāh), by Allāh, by Muḥammad, by ʿAlī, and by Fāṭimah’—and then mention the names of the Imāms (ʿalayhim as-salām). ‘Through you all, I seek intercession with Allāh, the Almighty and Glorious.’ For indeed, you shall be granted relief immediately by the permission of Allāh, the Exalted."

From Qabas al-Misbah by al-Sihreshti, a student of Shaykh al-Ta’ifah, from al-Mufaddal ibn ‘Umar, from al-Sadiq (peace be upon him):‘I (a.s) have had fever for seven months and my (a.s) son has had fever for twelve months and it has been increasing for us. I (a.s) feel that it does not affect the whole body. Sometimes it affects in the upper part of the body and does not affect in the lower of it, and sometimes it affects in the lower part of it and does not affect in all of the upper body’. I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you. If you (a.s) allow me, I would narrate to you (a.s) a Hadeeth from Abu Baseer from your (a.s) grandfather (a.s) when he (a.s) had fever, he (a.s) sought help by the cold water. So he (a.s) would take two pieces of cloth, one immerse it in the cold water and one on the body and rotate between them. Then he (a.s) would call out until his (a.s) voice would be heard at the door of the house; ‘يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ’ ‘O Fatima (s.a) daughter (a.s) of the Muhammad ﷺ’. He (a.s) said: ‘You have spoken the truth’. I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you (a.s). Have you (a.s) not found a cure for the fever?’ So he (a.s) said: ‘We (a.s) have not found a cure for it except for the supplication and the cold water. I (a.s) complained of it, so Muhammad Bin Ibrahim sent a doctor to me for it. So he came to me (a.s) with a medicine which made me (a.s) vomit, so I refused to drink it, because if I vomit, all of my (a.s) joints hurt’.

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al-Qasim Bin Muhammad Al-Jowhary, from Ali Bin Abu Hamza, who has said: Abu Ibrahim (as) having said to me:"If you have a need from Allah and you are overwhelmed by it, then perform two units of prayer. When you finish, say ‘Allahu Akbar’ three times and recite the Tasbih of Fatima (peace be upon her). Then, prostrate and say 100 times: ‘O my Chieftess Fatima, help me!’ (يَا مُوَلاَتِي فَاطِمَةُ أَغِيثِينِي) Then, place your right cheek on the ground and say the same. Then, return to the prostration and say it 110 times. Afterward, mention your need, and indeed Allah will fulfill it."
