Shaykh al-Tusi narrated with his chain from Abu Dharr, from the Prophet (ﷺ), that he said: "O Abu Dharr, there will come a time in the latter days when a people will wear wool in both their summer and winter, thinking that by doing so, they have superiority over others. The angels of the heavens and the earth will curse them."

A man said to Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him): "In this time, a group has emerged who are called the Sufis. What do you say about them?" The Imam (peace be upon him) replied: "They are our enemies. Whoever inclines towards them is one of them and will be resurrected with them. There will be people who claim to love us but will incline towards them, imitate them, adopt their titles, and interpret their words. Be aware! Whoever inclines towards them is not from us, and we are free from him. But whoever rejects them and refutes them, it is as if he has fought against the disbelievers alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)."

Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever mentions the Sufis in his presence and does not reject them with his tongue or heart is not from us. And whoever rejects them, it is as if he has fought against the disbelievers alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)."

The noble Shaykh Baha’ al-Din Muhammad al-‘Amili, may his soul be sanctified, narrated in his book Al-Kashkool that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said:"The Hour will not come upon my Ummah until a group of people emerges from my Ummah, known as the Sufis. They are not from me, and they are the Jews of my Ummah. They shave their heads for dhikr and raise their voices in dhikr, thinking they are on the path of the righteous. But in reality, they are more misguided than the disbelievers, and they are the people of Hell. Their breaths resemble the braying of donkeys, their speech resembles that of the righteous, and their actions resemble those of the wicked. They dispute with the scholars, having no faith. They are enamored with their deeds, yet their actions are only a source of fatigue for them."
