•About the grave of Abu Hanifa la
As for the miracles that have appeared from the graves of their four imams, they are too numerous to count, and the greatest of them are the miracles that people have witnessed from the grave of Abu Hanifa.
This is because the great Sultan Shah Abbas I, when he conquered Baghdad, ordered that Abu Hanifa's grave be made into a latrine. He even allocated a waqf (endowment) for it, consisting of two mules, and ordered that they be tied at the head of the market so that anyone who wanted to relieve themselves could ride them to Abu Hanifa's grave.
One day, a servant of the grave was asked, "Why do you serve at this grave when Abu Hanifa is now in the depths of hell?" The servant replied, "There is a black dog buried in this grave, which your ancestor Shah Ismail buried when he conquered Baghdad, exhuming Abu Hanifa's bones and replacing them with the dog. I serve that dog." The servant was telling the truth, as the late Shah Ismail had indeed done such a thing.
