Khwaja Nasrullah Hindi:
"The famous account of the birth of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) among us is that the practice of the pre-Islamic people was to open the door of the Ka'bah on the 15th of Rajab and enter it for visitation. Among those who entered was Fatimah bint Asad, and her delivery coincided with that day."

Bassawi, in his "Muhadharat al-Awwal", writes about some of the titles of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and his birth in the Ka'bah:
"The first companion to be given the name 'Lion' in his childhood among the noble companions of Islam was our master, Ali ibn Abi Talib. He was called Haydar, one of the names of a lion. His father was absent when he was born in the Ka'bah, and his mother, Fatimah bint Asad, named him after his father, Asad, as a gesture of optimism. He was one of the prominent members of the Banu Hashim. She was the first Hashemite woman to give birth to a Hashemite child. Imam Ali (peace be upon him) was the closest caliph to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in terms of lineage, being the cousin of the Prophet and the husband of his best daughter."

Ibn Maghazili Shafi'i also narrates the birth of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) from Imam Zain al-Abidin (peace be upon him) as follows:
"Abu Tahir Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad al-Bay' narrated to us, saying: Abu Abdullah Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Khalid al-Katib informed us, who said: Ahmad ibn Ja'far ibn Muhammad ibn Salim al-Khatli narrated to me, who said: Umar ibn Ahmad ibn Ruh narrated to me, who said: Abu Tahir Yahya ibn al-Hasan al-Alawi narrated to me, who said: Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Darimi narrated to us, who said: Musa ibn Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from Muhammad ibn Ali, from his father, Ali ibn Husayn, who said: I was sitting with my father while we were visiting the grave of our grandfather, peace be upon him. There were many women there, and one of them approached us. I said to her: 'Who are you, may God have mercy on you?' She replied: 'I am Zaydah, the daughter of Quraibah, the daughter of 'Ajlan, from the tribe of Banu Sa'dah.' I asked her: 'Do you have anything to tell us?' She said: 'Yes, by God, my mother, Umm al-'Arah, daughter of Ubadah ibn Nadhlah ibn Malik ibn 'Ajlan al-Sa'di, told me that one day she was with the women of the Arabs when Abu Talib came, sad and grieving. I said to him: 'What has happened to you, O Abu Talib?' He replied: 'Fatimah bint Asad is in the severe pains of childbirth.' Then he placed his hands on his face. While this was happening, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came and said: 'What is the matter, O uncle?' Abu Talib replied: 'Fatimah bint Asad is suffering greatly from the pains of childbirth.' The Prophet took his hand and, with Abu Talib holding Fatimah bint Asad's hand, they went to the Ka'bah. He made her sit inside the Ka'bah and said: 'Sit by the name of God!' She then gave birth to a cheerful, clean, and pure son. I have never seen a face more beautiful than his. Abu Talib named him Ali, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) carried him until he reached her home. Imam Ali ibn Husayn (peace be upon him) said: 'By God, I have never heard anything more beautiful than this.'"

Basti, an expert in the Mu'tazilite school of thought within Sunni Islam, writes regarding the birth of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and the customs of the women of Banu Hashim:
"It is well-known from authentic narrations among all the people of the household that Fatimah bint Asad said: When my delivery of Ali approached, it was customary among the women of Banu Hashim to enter the house (the Ka'bah) and rub their bellies against its walls to ease the delivery. But I, with my child, went out from the Ka'bah.
There is no place more honored than this [the Ka'bah], and the pure child [Imam Ali] was born in the most exalted place, the most distinguished of virtues. This distinction does not apply to the scholars or anyone we know.
Furthermore, Imam Ali has a unique distinction in the mosque, which no one shares with him, and that is that he was born in the Ka'bah."

"It is narrated that when Fāṭimah bint Asad was pregnant with Amīr al-Mu’minīn (Ali, peace be upon him), she was performing the ṭawāf (circumambulation) around the Ka‘bah. When labor pains began to strike, she entered the Ka‘bah and gave birth to him inside the sacred house."

Ṣafūrī al-Shāfi‘ī, one of the Sunni scholars, also mentions the birth of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in the Ka‘bah in two of his works, quoting from the book Al-Fuṣūl al-Muhimmah. He narrates as follows:
"I found in the book Al-Fuṣūl al-Muhimmah fī Ma‘rifat al-A’immah, authored by Abū al-Ḥasan al-Mālikī, that Ali’s mother gave birth to him inside the Ka‘bah, and this is a virtue granted exclusively to him by Allah. The story is as follows: Fāṭimah bint Asad (may Allah be pleased with her) experienced severe labor pains, so Abū Ṭālib brought her into the Ka‘bah. With a single contraction, she gave birth to him. This event occurred on Friday, the 13th of Rajab, in the 30th year of the Year of the Elephant."

Hafiz Ganjī, a scholar of the Shāfi‘ī school of thought in Ahl al-Sunnah, writes in Kifāyat al-Ṭālib, Pages 405-406:
"Amīr al-Mu’minīn Ali ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon him) was born in Mecca, in the House of Allah, on the night of Friday, the 13th of Rajab, in the 30th year of the Year of the Elephant. No one was born in the Holy House of Allah before him or after him, except for him, as an honor to him and to magnify his status."
Upon careful consideration of Ganjī's words, we understand that he not only refers to the birth of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in the Ka‘bah but also emphasizes that this unique virtue has been granted to no one other than Imam Ali (peace be upon him).

"Ali (peace be upon him) was born in the Holy Ka‘bah in Mecca on a Friday, the 13th of the sacred month of Rajab, in the 30th year of the Year of the Elephant, 23 years before the Hijrah, and it is also said 25 years, or 12 years before the Prophethood, and some say 10 years before. No one was born in the Holy Ka‘bah before him. This is a virtue that Allah granted him in order to honor and elevate his rank and to demonstrate His special favor upon him."

Alūsī in his commentary in Sarḥ al-Khurridah, Pages 3 and 15 on the verses of ʿAbd al-Bāqī ʿUmarī Effendi, who is also a descendant of the second caliph, writes in his book Sarḥ al-Khurridah al-Ghaybīyah fī Sharḥ al-Qasīdah al-‘Aynīyah. He quotes Effendi’s poem as follows:
"You are the exalted Ali, whose status is derived from the highest divine position, and you are at the peak of human elevation."
"God brought you to Mecca and placed you in the Ka‘bah, and this is how you were descended."
Alūsī continues in his commentary:
"The fact that Amīr al-Mu’minīn Ali ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah honor his face) was born in the house of God is a well-known matter, mentioned in the books of both the Sunni and Shia scholars."
