Blasphemy of Ibn Taymiyyah

Imam Ibn baz, pg. 33 by Abd al-Rahman b. Hamd al-Abad al-Badr:

If there was a Prophet after Muhammad (s), it would be Ibn Taymiyyah ~ Bin Baz defends this statement by bringing up the Umar hadith

341 - Abu Amr, 'Uthman bin Talut, said: Mu'adh bin Hashim narrated to us from his father, from Qatadah, from Kathir bin Abi Kathir, from Abu Iyad, from Abdullah bin Amr, who said:

'Indeed, the Throne is surrounded by a serpent, and indeed, revelation descends with chains (2).'"


How authentic?
Narrated by 'Abdullah in "As-Sunnah" (1059). Al-Haythami said in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" (8/135): "

It was narrated by Al-Tabarani, and its narrators are those of authentic (Sahih) narrations, except Kathir ibn Abi Kathir, who is trustworthy (thiqah)

al-Durar al-Kamina, Vol 1 pg. 88 - 90:

ولم يزل ابن تيمية في الجب إلى أن شفع فيه مهنا أمير آل فضل فأخرج في ربيع الأول في الثالث وعشرين منه وأحضر إلى القلعة ووقع البحث مع بعض الفقهاء فكتب عليه محضر بأنه قال أنا أشعري

Ibn Taymiyya remained in the jail till the prince Muhanna of Ale-Fadhl interceded for him. In the 23th of Rabi' al-Awwal he (Ibn Taymiyya) was brought to the fort and debated with some scholars then they wrote a report that he (Ibn Taymiyya) admitted to be Ash’ari.

We read in Minhaj al-Sunnah Vol 4 pg. 108 - 109:

قَالَ تَعَالَى: {وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُوا وَكَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يُوقِنُونَ} [سُورَةُ السَّجْدَةِ: 24] ، وَقَدْ قَالَ تَعَالَى لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ: {إِنِّي جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًا} [سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ: 124] ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ ذَلِكَ بِأَنْ جَعَلَهُ ذَا سَيْفٍ يُقَاتِلُ بِهِ جَمِيعَ النَّاسِ، بَلْ جَعَلَهُ [بِحَيْثُ] (1) يَجِبُ عَلَى النَّاسِ اتِّبَاعُهُ، سَوَاءٌ أَطَاعُوهُ أَمْ عَصَوْهُ.

Allah Almighty says: "And We made of them Imams to guide by Our command when they were patient, and they were certain of Our communications." Holy Qur'an {32:24} and He Almighty says to Ibrahim (a.s): "Surely I will make you an Imam of men." Holy Qur'aan {2:124} and that was not that He made him a man of sword who fights with it with all people, He rather made it obligatory over people to follow him, whether they obey or disobey him.

Rihlat Ibn Battuta (The Journey of Ibn Battuta), titled Tuhfat al-Nuzzar fi Ghara’ib al-Amsar, Pg. 112-113:

وكان بدمشق من كبار فقهاء الحنابلة تقي الدين ابن تيمية، كبير الشام، يتكلم في الفنون، إلا أن في عقله شيئاً. فحضرته يوم الجمعة وهو يعظ الناس على منبر الجامع ويذكرهم، فكان من جملة كلامه أن قال: «إن الله ينزل إلى سماء الدنيا كنزولي هذا»، ونزل درجة من درج المنبر.

In Damascus, there was among the prominent Hanbali jurists Taqi al-Din Ibn Taymiyyah, the great scholar of Sham, who spoke on various subjects. However, there was something peculiar about his reasoning. I attended his sermon on a Friday while he was preaching to the people from the pulpit of the mosque and reminding them. Among his statements was: “Indeed, Allah descends to the sky of the world just as I descend now,” and he descended a step from the pulpit.

al-A’lam al-Aliyyah by Ibn Ali al-Bazzar, pg. 53:

جرى بيني وبين بعض الفضلاء منازعة في عدة مسائل، وطال كلامُنا فيها، وجعلنا نقطع الكلام في كل مسألة بأن نرجع إلى الشيخ وما يُرجحه من القول فيها. ثم إن الشيخ رضي الله عنه حضر، فلما هممنا بسؤاله عن ذلك سبقنا هو وشرع يذكر لنا مسألة مسألة كما كنا فيه. وجعل يذكر غالب ما أوردناه في كل مسألة

There occurred between me and some of the distinguished scholars a debate over several issues, and our discussion on them became lengthy. So we decided to suspend judgment on each issue until we could refer to the Ibn Taymiyyah and see which opinion he favored. Then Ibn Taymiyyah arrived, and before we could even ask him about it, he preceded us and began mentioning each issue, one by one, just as we had discussed them. He went on to mention most of what we had presented in each issue.

Majmu al-Fatawa, Vol. 11, Pg 296 by Ibn Taymiyya:

وإن كان أتباع هؤلاء زادوا على ما شرعه ساداتهم وكبراؤهم زيادات من الفواحش التي لا ترضاها القرود؛ ‌فإنه ‌قد ‌ثبت ‌في ‌صحيح ‌البخاري {‌أن ‌أبا ‌عمران ‌رأى ‌في ‌الجاهلية قردا زنى بقردة فاجتمعت عليه القرود فرجمته} . ومثل ذلك قد شاهده الناس في زماننا في غير القرود حتى الطيور

And if the followers of these [people] have exceeded what their leaders and dignitaries have ordained of increases in indecencies that not even monkeys would accept; then it has been established in Sahih al-Bukhari that Abu 'Imran saw in the Jahiliyyah [pre-Islamic era] a monkey committing adultery with a female monkey, so the monkeys gathered and stoned it. And the like of that has been witnessed by people in our time with creatures other than monkeys, even birds

Majmo’a al-Fatawa, Vol 6 pg. 136:

وقال جمهور أهل الحديث والسنة نصفه أيضاً بإدراك اللمس

"And the majority of the people of Hadith and Sunnah said: It is also confirmed by touch."

Meaning according to Ibn Taymiyyah opinion Allah can be touched

We read in Majmo’a al-Fatawa, Vol 6 pg. 572:

اللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَى أَنْ يَخْرُقَ مِنْ هُنَا إلَى هُنَاكَ بِحَبْلِ

”Allah is able to relocate from here to there through rope”

Minhaj al-Sunnah, Vol. 8, Pg. 229:

وعلي قد اختلف فيه هل حفظ القرآن كله أم لا
“Ali, there is disagreement about him as to whether he had memorized the whole Quran or not.”

Ibn Taymiyya says in Minhaj al-Sunnah, Vol 7 pg. 529 – 530:

قال الرافض: ((وفي الفقه : الفقهاء يرجعون إليه)). والجواب: أن هذا كذب بين، فليس فى الأئمة الأربعة - ولا غيرهم من أئمة الفقهاء - من يرجع إليه فى فقهه. أما مالك، فإن علمه عن أهل المدينة. وأهل المدينة لا يكادون يأخذون
بقول على، بل أخذوا فقههم عن الفقهاء السبع، عن: زيد، عمر، وابن عمر، ونحوهم. أما الشافعي، فإنه تفقه أولا على المكيين أصحاب ابن جريج، كسعيد بن سالم القداح، ومسلم بن خالد الزنجي. وابن جريج أخذ ذلك عن أصحاب ابن عباس كعطاء وغيره. وابن عباس كان مجتهداً مستقلا، وكان إذا أفتى بقول الصحابة أفتى بقول أبي بكر وعمر، لا بقول على، وكان ينكر عَلَى على أشياء.

None of the four imams nor the other of the jurists refer to him (Ali) in their jurisprudence. Verily if Malik’s knowledge was obtained from the people of Madina, the people of Madina did not take Ali’s statements. They took their jurisprudence from the seven jurists, Zaid, Umar, ibn Umar and so on.
Shafiyee obtained jurisprudence from the people of Makka, the companions of Ibn Juraij like Saeed bin Salem al-Qadah and Muslim bin khalid al-Zenji. Ibn Juraij obtained knowledge from the companions of Ibn Abbas, like Atta and others. Verily Ibn Abbas was an independent mujtahid. Whenever he gives fatwa, according to the Sahabas, he would give the fatwa of Abu Bakr and Umar, not Ali’s. He disagreed with Ali on few things.

We read in Lisan Al Mizan Vol 3, pg 215-216

الحسين بن يوسف بن المُطَهَّر الحِلّي، عالم الشيعة ولما بلغه بعض كتاب ابن تيمية قال : لو كان يفهم ما أقول لأجبته

Al-Hussein ibn Yusuf ibn al-Mutahhar al-Hilli, a Shia scholar. When he received a book by Ibn Taymiyyah, he said, 'If he understood what I'm saying, I would respond to him

We read in رحلة ابن بطوطة | Vol 1 | page 95

وكنت إذ ذاك بدمشق فحضرته يوم الجمعة وهو يعظ الناس على منبر الجامع ويذكرهم فكان من جملة كلامه أن قال أن الله ينزل من سماء الدنيا كنزولي هذا ونزل درجة من درج المنبر فعارضه فقيه مالكي يعرف بابن الزهراء وأنكر ما تكلم به فقامت العامة إلى هذا الفقيه وضربوه بالأيدي والنعال ضرباً كثيرا حتى سقطت عمامته

I was in Damascus at that time and I attended his (Ibn Taymiyyah’s) sermon on Friday, and he addressed the people from the pulpit of the mosque, reminding them. Among his words, he said that Allah descends from the heavens to the earthly sky, just as I descended a step from the pulpit. A knowledgeable Maliki jurist, known as Ibn al-Zahraa, objected to what he said. The general public turned against the jurist, hitting him with their hands and shoes until his turban fell off, revealing a silk cap on his head.

Minhaj al-Sunnah, Vol. 8, pg. 94 by Ibn Taymiyyah:

Rafida: ‘Imam Ali (as) killed 36 people during badr’
Ibn Taymiyyah: ‘Indeed this is a lie….!’

In Minhaj Al-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyyah, Vol4, Pg243 - 244, Ibn Taymiyyah(la) says:
ونحن نعلم أن ما يحكى عن فاطمة وغيرها من الصحابة من القوادح كثير منها كذب وبعضها كانوا فيه متأولين / وإذا كان بعضها ذنبا فليس القوم معصومين،
[Translation]:
And we know that what is narrated about the evil deeds of Faatimah (s.a), and others apart from her from the Sahabah, INCLUDING TELLING LIES are several; and in some of these evil deeds they (Faatimah (s.a) and the other Sahabah) were only doing Ta'weel. Of course, some of these evil deeds were sins. However, they were not infallible. Rather, although they were friends of Allah (swt) and from the people of Jannah, they committed sins that Allah (swt) forgave them.
