جرى بيني وبين بعض الفضلاء منازعة في عدة مسائل، وطال كلامُنا فيها، وجعلنا نقطع الكلام في كل مسألة بأن نرجع إلى الشيخ وما يُرجحه من القول فيها. ثم إن الشيخ رضي الله عنه حضر، فلما هممنا بسؤاله عن ذلك سبقنا هو وشرع يذكر لنا مسألة مسألة كما كنا فيه. وجعل يذكر غالب ما أوردناه في كل مسألة
There occurred between me and some of the distinguished scholars a debate over several issues, and our discussion on them became lengthy. So we decided to suspend judgment on each issue until we could refer to the Ibn Taymiyyah and see which opinion he favored. Then Ibn Taymiyyah arrived, and before we could even ask him about it, he preceded us and began mentioning each issue, one by one, just as we had discussed them. He went on to mention most of what we had presented in each issue.
