Hadith Scan
حدثنا الفضل بن دكين قال: حدثنا موسى بن قيس قال: سمعت حجر بن عنبس قال: قيل لعلي يوم صفين: قد حيل بيننا وبين الماء، قال: فقال: أرسلوا إلى الأشعث، قال: فجاء، فقال: ائتوني بدرع ابن (سهر) -رجل من بني براء- فصبها عليه ثم أتاهم فقاتلهم حتى أزالهم عن الماء.
Al-Fadl b. Dukayn narrated to us, he said: Musa b. Qays narrated to us, he said: I heard Hujr b. 'Anbas say: It was said to 'Ali on the day of Siffin, “The water has been cut off from us.” He said: “Send for al-Ash'ath.” So he came, and he said: “Bring me the armor of Ibn Sahr—a man from Banu Bara'.” So he put it [the armor] over him, then he went and fought them until he drove them away from the water.
