Rabī' al-Abrar by al-Zamakhshari, Vol. 5, pg. 116-117
۳۷ - أفلتت من معاوية ريح (۲) على المنبر فقال : يا أيها الناس ، إن الله خلق أبدانا ، وجعل فيها أرواحاً فما تمالك الناس أن تخرج منهم ، فقام صعصعة بن صوحان فقال : أما بعد فإن خروج الأرواح في المتوضئات سنة، وعلى المنابر بدعة ، واستغفر الله لي ولكم.
37 - Muawiya accidentally passed wind (2) while on the pulpit, and he said: "O people, Allah created bodies and placed souls in them, and people cannot help but release them."
Then Saʿṣaʿa ibn Ṣūḥān stood up and said: "As for what follows, the release of souls in places of ablution is a sunnah, but on the pulpits, it is a bid'ah. I ask Allah for forgiveness for myself and for you."
(2) His statement: "Muawiya passed wind" means that he either passed gas loudly or quietly.
