Sharh Ma’ani al-Athar by al-Tahawi, Vol. 7, pg. 446, Report # 5408:
حدثنا يونس، قال: أخبرنا ابن وهب قال أخبرني ابن لهيعة، عن عبد الله بن هبيرة السبائي، عن أبي تميم الجيشاني، قال: اشترى معاوية بن أبي سفيان قلادة فيها تبر وزبرجد، ولؤلؤ، وياقوت بستمائة دينار، فقام عبادة بن الصامت رضي الله عنه حين طلع معاوية المنبر أو حين صلى الظهر، فقال: ألا إن معاوية اشترى الربا وأكله، ألا وإنه في النار إلى حلقه.
Yunus narrated: He said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said Ibn Lahi‘a informed me, from Abdullah b. Hubayra al-Saba‘i, from Abu Tamim al-Jayshani, who said: Muawiya b. Abi Sufyan bought a necklace that had gold dust, chrysolite, pearls, and ruby for six hundred dinars. So Ubada b. al-Samit stood when Muawiya ascended the minbar or when he prayed the zuhr prayer and said: Indeed Muawiya has bought usury and consumed it, and indeed he is in the Fire up to his throat.
