Ibn Hajar al-โ€™Asqalani comments on this in his Fath al-Bari, Vol. 18 pg. 468:

ู‚ูŽุงู„ูŽ ุจู† ุนูŽุจู’ุฏู ุงู„ู’ุจูŽุฑู‘ู ุฃูŽุฌู’ู…ูŽุนููˆุง โ€ŒุนูŽู„ูŽู‰ โ€ŒุฃูŽู†ู‘ูŽู‡ู โ€Œู„ูŽุง โ€ŒูŠูŽุฌููˆุฒู โ€Œุงู„ู’ู‡ูุฌู’ุฑูŽุงู†ู ููŽูˆู’ู‚ูŽ ุซูŽู„ูŽุงุซู ุฅูู„ู‘ูŽุง ู„ูู…ูŽู†ู’ ุฎูŽุงููŽ ู…ูู†ู’ ู…ููƒูŽุงู„ูŽู…ูŽุชูู‡ู ู…ูŽุง ูŠููู’ุณูุฏู ุนูŽู„ูŽูŠู’ู‡ู ุฏููŠู†ูŽู‡ู

Ibn Abd al-Barr narrates that there is an ijma amongst the scholars, that it is not permissible to stay aloof from a Muslim for more than three days, failure to do so means that one is ignoring the Deen.
