Description:
Narrated to us Abdullah, he said: My father narrated to me, Ibn
Numayr narrated to me, he said: Ajlah al-Kindi narrated to me, from
Abdullah b. Buraydah, from his father Buraydah, said: The Messenger
of Allah sent two envoys to Yemen, one of them was Ali ibn Abi Talib
and the other was Khalid ibn al-Walid. He said: "If you meet each
other, then Ali is in charge of the people, and if you separate, each one
of you leads his own soldiers." He said: "So we encountered the Banu
Zayd from the people of Yemen and we fought, and the Muslims
prevailed over the polytheists. We killed those who fought and took
their offspring as captives. Then he chose a woman from the captives
for himself." Buraydah said: So Khalid ibn al-Walid wrote to the
Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, informing him [of the events]
Therefore, when I came to the Prophet, I handed him the letter, and it
was recited for him. I saw anger on the face of the Messenger of Allah,
peace be upon him, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is a place of
seeking refuge. You sent me with a man and commanded me to obey
him, and I have fullled what I was sent with." Then the Messenger of
Allah, peace be upon him, said, "Do not raise any issue against Ali, for
he is from me and I am from him, and he is your guardian after me.
Indeed, he is from me and I am from him, and he is your guardian
after me."
