Madhab of Shias

Maqatil al-Talibiyin, by Abul Faraj, pg 478 - 80:-

Al-Mutawakkil was harshly critical of the family of Abu Talib, stern with his community, preoccupied with their affairs, filled with intense anger and resentment towards them. He harbored suspicion, accusations, and ill feelings towards them. It was agreed upon that Ubaidullah ibn Yahya ibn Khakan, his minister, held a negative opinion of them. Al-Mutawakkil improved their treatment in a manner that no caliph of the Abbasid dynasty before him had done.

Umar ibn al-Faraj al-Rukhji was appointed over Medina and Mecca. He prevented the family of Abu Talib from dealing with people's matters and discouraged people from showing kindness towards them. He would not tolerate anyone favoring them in any way, even if it was minimal, except by imposing punishment and heavy fines. To the extent that a shirt would circulate among a group of Alawite women, each praying in it one after another, then repairing it and sitting on their designated spots until the assassination of al-Mutawakkil.

Afterwards, al-Muntasir showed compassion towards them, treated them well, allocated funds to them, and consistently opposed his father in all matters, criticizing his doctrine and supporting his own actions.
